Metamora* Petitions To Play Down....

All.... It's just too quiet. Anyway after last years first round 5A loss to the mighty Rockets from Park Forest, the Redbird fan base yearn for those days to once again play tiny 4A schools.

Petition down. No such thing as we all know. Actually official enrollment for the upcoming school year was set in September of last year. The IHSA will in the near future list the schools with their numbers but until the 256 playoff teams are announced what class a playoff team might land in could change. Ratsy P.S. I'm sure my students over on the Star forum will have something to say. And yes fellas at the moment I'm planning on another East Peoria 7 on 7 adventure. P.P.S.

Taylorville school board rejects Apollo move

Its reported today in the Mattoon paper that Taylorville's school board has voted 4-3 to reject the offer of the Apollo conference and remain in the CS8.

Personally, I'm glad to see this despite their recent non-competitiveness in most sports. Perhaps with this out of the way, they can now get on with the task of rebuilding a proud sports tradition.

New Team on Schedule - Indianapolis Cathedral

Hello everyone, I thought I would give everyone a preview of Indianapolis Cathedral, who is new to SHG's schedule next year.

Cathedral competes in class 4A, there are 5 classes in Indiana.

They are all-time winningest program in Indiana. Below, is a summary of type of opponents they play

2012 Schedule

Indianapolis Ben Davis, a 5A school, 9 state title appearances, 7 titles

Indianapolis Warren Central, a 5A school, 7 state title appearances, 7 state titles

Cincy St. Xavier, 2 Big School state titles in Ohio

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, a 3A school, 12 state title appearances, 11 state titles

Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. 4A school, 9 state title appearances, 3 state titles

Louisville Trinity - 5A school, 15 state titles in Kentucky, finished ranked #2 nationally last year

SHG - assume everyone know our history

Indianapolis Tech - only cupcake on schedule, an Indianapolis Public School who is not afraid to play them

Cincinnati Moeller- 7 Big School state titles in Ohio

Cathedral - has 9 state titles in 12 state final appearances. They have kids that come from all over Central Indiana to play and go to school at their beautiful East-side Campus.

They will be very good this year. Have an excellent QB and their two running backs are tough kids - both placed @ state wrestling meet this past month. I expect that their fan-base will travel very well and should be the beginning of a great rivalry between the two schools.

I cant wait to see this match-up as my wife is a Cathedral alumni and will "never hear the end of it" if Cathedral wins.

Leonard era QBs

So since we have nothing to do but think about the exciting fall coming up, thought I would throw a pole out there. Think of the Coach Leonard era QBs. I think if you picked the top 5 you would have (in no order except chronologically - I would not want to upset anyone ;)

1 Chris O
2 Bart G
3 Eric P
4 Bobby B
5.....

Who would be your 5th? I have not decided yet...

Here are your choices (forgive me if I missed anyone or have forgotten how to spell a name). Each of these guys started at least one full season....

Andy Thompson
Jeff Fleischli
PJ Becker
Andy Sgro
Akraham ... I have totally forgotten how to spell this sorry buddy. You guys know who I am talking about...
Scott Norris
Ryan Wells
Derek Leonard
Scott Stotlar
Brad Selenger
Jon Sundquist
Tim Dondanville
Pat Smith

(I think I got them all....)

Who is your pick for the 5 spot and why?

As I said, I have not decided yet....
