They did not play due to the weather.  Although some freshmen played JV and looked very good.

I've heard pretty good stuff about this freshman class.  Any feel yet as to which of them may become permanent contributors at the JV or even varsity level?

I don't know thier names maybe others can help with that.   I believe one freshmen that will see time is the big linemen.  I think his number is 77.  I believe he is from Chatham.  The other I have heard good things about is Gary Wilson's younger brother.

I saw a few (three, I think?)  great tackles by 44.  Talented boy, in my unqualified opinion.

Young McMath has the football genes, for sure.  His grandfather was Herb McMath (Feitshans/Southeast) who played for Green Bay and Oakland and is the ONLY Springfield native to wear a Super Bowl ring.  His dad attended Calvary, and the young McMath was quite a star in the JFL.  To me, SHG sounds like a no-brainer.  Coach Taylor told me he's already a punishing runner at only 14 years old.  A future star?  Seems definitely possible.

I've watched every JFL game, last year.  There was only one player who could, and did stop Darryl McMath.  And now, both are on the same team.  winkwink.gif

Oh?  Who?  One of the other two already mentioned or someone else?  He must hit like a bucket full of bricks.

One of the other two, indeed.  :)

By the way, I think... we forgot one more fine boy - don't remember his #, and I don't have the roster handy... but his name is Jake Williams, I think. Isn't he on the Varsity roster?

Old  Fan---as Johnny Carson might say, "not so fast, camel breath". There was a wide receiver for the 72 Dolphins who went to Feitshans High---Calvin Petit? Super Bowl ring. Without going all Jimmy the Greek on ya I know one of the Beelers (Dave, Harrison, McKindle, etc)  wed one of the McMaths and I wonder if he's one of them. Those are some athletic genes. I played against Dave who now works for the post office. Back in the day, baby! (Dave was on the only SE team to EVER beat GHS/SHG)
I offer absolutely zero educated insight

Yeah, that makes more sense.  I didn't think Calvin played college football -  he was the best basketball player of his era in Springfield)  though some might argue for John Davsko.

I didn't recall Stowe being with the '72 Dolphins, but hey - that was, like, two generations ago.
