All.... Are usually listed no later than mid-week on the main page of the SHG board under schedules.

In the opener against Jacksonville the freshman won 52-18 as well as the sophomores 49-12. Congrats to both! You are the future of Cyclone football!     Ratsy

What a difference a year makes for the sophomores. They were in a death match at Jax a year ago, down to the wire. They've got some really nice football players in that class, just had to borrow a couple RBs from the frosh.

Sophs 3-0 as well, counting the same U High game where they played 1st n 3rd quarters while freshman 2nd n 4th. With several sophomores starting varsity, Normal couldn't field a sophomore team. Combining what they had was the only way to get our sophomores some action.

Sophs also had a convincing win over MacArthur last week, with the same slo-motion refs that did our varsity game the night before.

All.... Freshman in a scoring fest defeat Chatham 65-30. I continue to hear freshman QB Isaiah Thompson and the whole team for that matter look really sharp at that level. Ratsy

Sophs got down at Chatham 14-0 last night before fighting back to tie it at 20-20. Glenwood took a 26-20 lead in the third before lightning halted play.

This is a significant development considering we lost in a blowout last year as freshman. It looks like we caught up fast (and without one of our key linemen last night). Not much flash, but a lot of good football players.

Thomas has looked good in his varsity mop up roles.  Really doesn't look or hold himself like a ninth grader.

Thompson is a natural, very quick and very athletic. Heck of an arm too. He could use a few more pounds and no doubt will get there.
While sophomore Trace Jennings is likely the backup varsity QB, his emergence as what appears to be an outside LB for the varsity has kept him out of the last two soph games. Thompson has quarterbacked the sophs.

And for the record, your catch up to that class has a lot to do with QB lenenn starting varsity, along with Rb, Hansbrow, DE Humbaker, LB Burris, DE Gandy, OL Black, DL Kneppler and a few others. In no way is this team the same as the freshman team who dominated SHG last year. Last Friday night is not going to be a reflection of what the game between these two programs is going to be in the next few years either. There is a ton of talent coming up through the ranks at Glenwood that are underclassman. How this talent develops is a big key to success.  Cyclones have talent with the emergence of Thomas at QB, and some other freshman players. This game, like Matt B said in the paper yesterday is a rivalry. Enjoy folks, next few years will be fun.

Good point on the sophomores playing up. SHG has a few and I knew several key Titans played up, but that's a lot. Your sophomore class is a very good one and I do expect good ballgames the next few years. There is no experience like varsity experience.

All said, I've watched with interest the soundness of the SHG sophomore class and am very impressed with their development. Many of these kids met for the first time a year ago, unlike Chatham who have been playing together half their lives. I also like our ability to coach 'em up.

The game should get good again next year.

All.... Freshman defeat the Spartans 49-0 and are now 6-0. I see the sophomore game for tonight is cancelled. Does Southeast not field a team due to lack of players?  Ratsy

Not completely sure, but SE cancelled the game so it is likely.

Sophs play tomorrow, I believe. Lost to Rochester last week something like 34-26.
