SHG Freshmen 17.....SHS Freshmen 13.

It was a heck of a game. SHG scored the winning touchdown with about 2:00 minutes left in the game on a ball that the SHS defensive back tipped up in the air and right into the hands of a streaking Steve Hott who took it in on about a 65 yard play.

Maybe they came out fired-up for SHG!

That loss made them 0-4, and they lost to SHS last week 41-0.

Freshman games are fun and help inculcate the kids with the winning tradition, but its hard to get too worried about them.

The important thing is that the kids LEARN the SHG system, especially since we don't have them under control from second grade on like Rourke or Albersson or Bates in Auburn.  In my opinion, one-school towns give the high school coach a real advantage if he wants to take advantage of it.

We know our freshmen were very good in JFL and seems to be pretty good athletes.  the purpose of freshman ball is to make them pretty good CYCLONES.

I am 49 years old and had to get out my dictionary on "inculcate".

I hope all of the freshmen who read your post will do the same. You are correct as usual.

I don't know anything about their record or who they have been using at different postition all season, but they blocked very well.  Heidbreder and Rifner looked good on the line and that Wes Neece is an intuitive runner.  The Railer special team were soft, but their defense wasn't really that bad.  I watched them shutdown the offense several times, especially when we tried to run the spread offense.

Personally, I don't think scores mean much at this level.  It's about developing talent within the system and it is my opinion that Lincoln has a lot of talent.  As with most teams that lineup against Griffin Lincoln lacked the same kind of "team speed" that SHG has.....

These guys will fit right into Oaks' system in a year or two.

today the freshmen destroyed the lions. Up on the north side field close to memorial the one without a scoreboard.  They won i believe 52-0. Don't quote me on that.
It seemed all the cycs got in today bye the second half because they controled earlly and through the end. It was a huge win good job young cyclones. :goodjob:

Talked to one of the freshman coaches Saturday night.  He said the the time is finally starting to get what Cyclone football is all about.

There are some excellent athletes on this freshman squad.

Good point - if I am not mistaken the '00 squad lost its first three freshman games.  In '00 the finish was 11-1

When I was a freshman we lost to SHS.  When I was a soph, we lost to all three in what was then known as the city "Soph. Jamboree" (. . . that was sort of a neat thing - wonder why they don't do it anymore?) and SE in the regular season.

Anyhow point being - senior year we pasted all of them - hell scored 68 against LHS.  Anyhow - yea frosh/soph games are nice, but not be-all-end-all's.

I was out at the beautiful Piper Glen Golf Club and heard a lot of roars over at the stadium and it made me wonder what was going on over there.  Now I know...

the freshmen cyclones are the only undefeated frosh team in CS8 so this seems to be a good group.

SHG is 6 - 0
Tvile is 5 -1
Chatham is 5 - 1

Chatham loses to SHG.
Tville loses to Chatham. (t-ville did absolutely everything wrong that day, handed it to the former native americans)
SHG loses to T-ville Freshmen on week 8.
