NL Central champs! thumbsup.gif

Probably go no further, but I guess you never know.

As Mel Allen would say - "How about that!"

White Sox fan myself, but I no longer wish the Cubbies ill. That World Series win did wonderful things.  winkwink.gif

My only comment is...

Oh, great!  Three more weeks of mindless blathering of the same cub questions on the Pressbox shows. Why bother?  You know they'll only break your heart in the end, anyway.

Lifelong Cubs fan here, although, unlike many Cubs fans (in the Chicago area especially), I am not a White Sox hater.

On both sides there are many that absolutely despise the other team.  Never understood it - they play in different leagues.

I save my displeasure for the Cardinals - a division rival.  winkwink.gif

Steve, I saw earlier that the Cardinals have released Walt Jocketty of his duties as GM.
I guess this means LaRussa will be going too.   doh!.gif

If LaRussa does go (which he might)...I wonder if Ozzie would be brought into the organization in some role.  I know he stated several times that he would never take a position with the Cardinals as long as LaRussa was manager...

Walt did a great job.  But there are players that are reaching the end of their careers and their production is dropping.  I think the Cards need to make some fairly major moves in the offseason...esp with starting pitching...

I would like to see the Cubs get Jocketty, and have him oversee player development & draft.  He is a sharp baseball guy.  How could Cardinal management let this all go down this way?

Back on topic.

Cubs lose game one 3-1 (expected, with Webb pitching).  Gotta get a win tonight!

The Cubs went out without a whimper and the Cub fans began booing their own team.

They "went out without a whimper"??  I heard someone on WGN radio say that after the game today.  What the crap does that mean?  They lost while not crying even a little bit?  I dont get it.  Please explain it to me.

Furthermore, to OldFan's point, they did break my heart again.  It is so frustrating to be a Cubs fan.  They absolutely sucked this post-season.

I believe that its a misuse of an old saying "They went out not with a bang but a whimper."  The meaning of the original is clear, but when some radio or newpaper pundit tries to get cute, they just wind up with their audience scratching their heads in puzzlement.

I hereby suggest that either James Jones or one member of the Packer defense chosen by lot be shot as an object lesson to the rest.

I'll never understand why some folks take such immense pleasure when the Chicago National League Ballclub fails to win (or win it all).

I am not a fan of grave dancers, as it show absolutely zero class.
