Rochester wins. 41-35. Scored with 1:17 left and pooch kicked it and recovered on the ensuing kickoff.

Cathedral is an impressive team.
Also, overall, I was impressed with the SHG defense and special teams.
Fun game!  Congrats to the Irish!

Cathedral is indeed impressive but I knew that after watching their game with Trinity which I had recorded. Going in I was hoping that we could just get a short field on a few occasions because after looking at their defense last week I figured it would be tough to go 80 yards on a defense like that. There is just a lot of overall quickness on that D of theirs. The quickness, skill and experience were all to the advantage of the Irish.  Sometimes underclassmen play like underclassmen but the experience of playing against a better team will provide a good learning experience. Our D settled in and started playing better midway into the 2nd quarter but the D didn't get much help tonight and it's just too much when you turn it over 6 times, including a fumble returned for a TD and a fumbled punt which put them on our doorstep for another TD. That QB of theirs made two really nice throws on those two long passes in the first half. The coverage wasn't that bad on either of those.
Good job by the guys for continuing to battle after everything that had gone wrong. You've got to move on and get ready for Lincoln and the week after that a big one against a very tough Glenwood team. The CS8 title is still attainable and would be a big accomplishment for this young team.

This game reminded me alot of 2007 first round playoff game vs NLPC. We were outmanned and the blocking and speed of both the defense and offense of ICHS was impressive. Adjustments were made and our boys settled in last night. They grew up and this game will help them understand what it takes to make a run in either 5A or 6A this year and moving into the future. Humble pie sucks, but it builds character. My hat is off for ICHS, but even more for our Cyclones. The next couple of weeks, especially week 8, will be interesting to see what our boys learned.

Tough game for the Cycs. Turnovers are a killer. An early turnover is what did my Titans in last night. Hoping to see both teams rebound in a big way next week to set up the week 8 matchup. Good luck against the Railsplitters!

I really thought Glenwood had a bit of an edge going in but that fumble and getting two touchdowns down early at Rochester make it tough. Reading about the game this morning it sounded like the Glenwood offense had their way with them in the 2nd half. That still figures to be a big matchup in week 8. The potential for 3 teams sharing the CS8 title exists if Glenwood were to win the week 8 matchup. I look for Glenwood to administer a pounding on Lanphier next week and setting up a big game with a lot riding on it in week 8.

As everybody has said, you can't hand the ball over to a team of this caliber six times and not get clobbered.

Other than that, if it's a benefit to show absolutely nothing to future opponents, it worked to perfection.
