Getting close now.  The combined record of the four remaining 5A teams is 47-1.  even if they hadn't come through the playoff brackets, I think you'd have a hard time denying that these are the four best 5A teams in the State.

The games: (#) = Bracket seeding.  Three (3) points for each correct pick.

Top bracket:  11-1 Maple Park Kaneland (#4)  AT 12-0 Woodstock Marian CC (#2)

Bottom bracket: 12-0 Metamora (#2)  AT 12-0 Springfield SHG (#1)

Extra Credit:

1.  Four points:  pick the TOTAL score of the top bracket game.

2.  Four Points:  pick the SPREAD of the bottom bracket game.

3.  One point:  If we get to Champaign, what time will we play?

Question:

For Extra Credit # 3...if Metamora wins, is there still a point for picking the 5A game time?

Yeah, why not?  Fo one thing, they aren't going to win, and besides, the game will be held, with or without SHG.  I just threw it in on a whim, anyway - mostly to see if anybody could actually miss it  bigsmile.gif

i was looking over the Chicago tribune websit and ran across Bob Sakamoto's (the guy who said it would be Adrea "spender in the grass" pendergrass who would help us win against Cahokia) picks for the semifinals.  Pretty similar to some posters on this site.

heres the link

All.... Here we go.

Maple Park Kaneland @ Woodstock Marian Catholic....
Sometimes it is a Catholic thing cup, but not this time. Knights are on the road with their biggest game of the year against a good defense. Pretty much what Sako said in his column ( puke.gif ) and I can't stand him. It will all be up to Boone and its pretty tough to carry the whole team although he has a chance. Anyway, I pick Woodstock Marian.

Metamora @ SHG....

What can be said more about this match. Injuries or not on either side this will still be a a great match. Who figures out who quicker and guts it out could and should win but you never know.... Is that vague enough, read between the lines for all the infomation you will need. A simple riddle.... I like our chances, SHG.

EC1 Who knows, Boone might put the ball up 50 times and score 70 pts or the Marian defense might pick him off a half a dozen times. Lets go with 60 points.

EC2 A number that has been in my mind for a couple of months that I should change. But nah.... 14 points.

EC3 The only one I feel totally secure with (unless the world gets blown up the day before) 1:00pm.

Its been an interesting season, with many twists and turns. gocycs.gif  Ratsy

I have no dog in that fight.  I've seen Kaneland's stats and listened to Marian demolish Lemont.  That being the case, I take the undefeated team at home.

The games: (#) = Bracket seeding. Three (3) points for each correct pick.

Top bracket: 11-1 Maple Park Kaneland (#4) AT 12-0 Woodstock Marian CC (#2)

Marianists should win this one, in an uncharacteristically (for Kaneland, anyway) low scoring affair.

Bottom bracket: 12-0 Metamora (#2) AT 12-0 Springfield SHG (#1)

SHG, I think, as long as the Cyclone players hold their cool and don't run from the field in terror when the mighty redbirds come out.  Seriously, SHG will win this game, setting up the all-Catholic 5A final.

Extra Credit:

1. Four points: pick the TOTAL score of the top bracket game.

44 points

2. Four Points: pick the SPREAD of the bottom bracket game.

18 points

3. One point: If we get to Champaign, what time will we play?

1:00 p.m.

Top: Kaneland.  Since everyone so far has taken Marian Catholic and I've got some points to make up, I figured I might as well take a shot.

Bottom: SHG
