Is it true that because the cycs are in the state title game for the 3rd time in 4 years. That next year win or lose the cycs will be 7A?

Tim Schweitzer on post game said they will be back in 5A next year, even if they win 6A this year, because they didn't make it to state last year.

I'm sure they will come up with different penalties and SHG will have to play Alabama in playoffs

How will they punish Loyola? This will beat least 3 years in a row they have made 8A championship game. Maybe they will be forced to have split squads!

Back in 5A next yr, but if we go to Champ Game in '17, we will be in 6A in '18.

IHSA finds a way to try and knock us down.

Surprised he responded so quickly....I would assume he has quite a lot going on with the Fenwick/Plainfield debacle!

Didn't they declare that mess over since national high school bylaws say the official's decision is final?

Fenwick held a 10-7 lead as time expired. However, as the last play unfolded, the Fenwick QB heaved the ball up in the air. One of the referees threw a flag for intentional grounding, believe it or not. Instead of game over, win for Fenwick, they gave North an untimed play (after marching off the penalty). Ball placed at the 5, I believe, and PN kicks a FG to tie and goes on to win in OT.

The IHSA admitted that Plainfield should not have gotten another play, but the NFHS or whatever says referee calls are final. The wrong team will be in the 7A title game. That's how I heard it anyway.

Thank you.

A Chicago sports radio station just tweeted that Fenwick is taking the issue to court. Hearing set for Wednesday.

It's kind of funny all the people sticking up for Fenwick on the IHSS board, and they should. But the funny thing is they must not realize Fenwick is a Catholic school! Usually they attack any and every private school they can.

This article doesn't say, but I thought I read a family was going to do this, not the school.

Statement released by Fenwick yesterday-

“Pursuant to the outcome of the game, IHSA invited Fenwick to submit an appeal to the IHSA Board,” the statement read. “Early Monday morning, the IHSA Board determined that it would not hear the appeal. As a result, in an effort to protect the rights and rightfully earned opportunities of its students, Fenwick High School has filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois seeking declaratory, injunctive and other relief against IHSA.”
